Lorne Bystrom, beloved father and grandfather, passed away suddenly on February 24, 2017 while in Calgary Alberta at the age of 74 years.

Born in Wetaskiwin Alberta on Sept 11, 1942, Lorne came to Cranbrook in 1969 and fell in love with the area, calling it home for almost 50 years.

Lorne approached life with his trademark sense of humor, and nothing made him happier than being able to put a smile on

someones face. Whether it be trading stories over coffee with his buddies, taking his granddaughter fishing, or getting a tutorial on his new cellphone from her, he found great pleasure in simply spending time with family and friends. He was a generous , loving and devoted father and grandfather and will be forever missed.

Left to mourn his loss are daughters Michelle Bystrom and Sheila McGill, granddaughter Riley Colten, sister Jacqueline DeVooght, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Lorne was predeceased by parents John and Levina Bystrom, and brother Stanley.

A celebration of Lorne’s life will be held in Cranbrook at a later date.
