Kathleen May Doig

Kathleen May Doig, nee Gough, of Cranbrook, BC passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 in Cranbrook, BC at the age of 86.

Kay was born on May 31, 1931 in Penticton, BC to Emily &

Albert Gough. She attended high school in Port Kells, BC and after graduation married her first husband, George Skelton. They had five children together, three of whom, Lori, Mark and Virginia, died before the age of eight. In 1965, she married Walter Doig and moved from Calgary to Cranbrook with her two surviving daughters.

She was an artist, athlete, skier, and a championship golfer;

she was a walker, dancer, bridge player, and loyal member

of Christ Church Anglican for 50 years. Above all, she was

a friend in the true sense of the word. She wove herself

gracefully and humbly into the hearts of everyone within

her sphere.

Kay is survived by her husband, Walter Doig, her two

daughters, Debra Skelton and Cheryl King, her son-in-law,

Bill Stalker, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and sisters

Lilian Blystone and Margaret Osbourne.

Kay’s memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 4, 2017

at 10.30 am at Christ Church Anglican in Cranbrook, BC

with Reverend Yme Woensdregt offi ciating. You are invited

to wear light, white or bright clothing. A reception will

follow in the lower hall. All are welcome.

The family wishes to extend their profound gratitude to

Doctor David Lenz for his extraordinary generosity of spirit,

professional dedication and friendship; to Shelley Sullivan

Woensdregt for his offerings of comfort and for touching

the spirit within that is the real Kathleen May Doig.
