Jean Irene Almack

On the morning of October 23, 2017, Jean Irene Almack (Jeannie) passed away peacefully at the Kimberley Special Care Home (The Pines) at the age of 67 years.

Born January 10th, 1950 in Vernon, BC, Jeannie was adopted at birth by Reginald and Helen Almack and lived nearly her entire life in Kimberley, with the exception of a few years as a resident of the then Dr. Endicott Home in Creston, BC, and in recent times spent several years as a resident in a private care home in Cranbrook, BC.

After the passing of her parents, Jeannie enjoyed many years of semi-independent living, supported by a host of friends, care works, and Community Living agencies, affording her the opportunity to remain living in the family home and participating in community activities until her health deteriorated.

Jeannie is survived by her brother Daniel (Geri) of Sparwood, BC and an extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews and their families.

During Jeannie's lengthy and debilitating illness, she amazed all who knew her with her resilience, delighting in, and grateful for, each and any opportunity to participate in the simplest of daily activities, finding the positive in each situation and accepting her limitations with grace.

Jeannie's family extend their sincere gratitude to the staff and management of the Kimberley Special Care Home (The Pines) for their warm and loving care of Jeannie in her final years.

We would also like to thank Ms. Lise Carriere of Cranbrook, BC a most amazing caregiver and a truly remarkable human being; and a special thank you to Jeannie's cousin Margie, who was Jeannie's ever determine advocate and champion.

In lieu of a memorial service, Jeannie's family would prefer that any who knew her, honour her memory by observing a moment of gratitude for your own ability to participate in the simple, but often overlooked precious moment in our daily lives.

For those who may be so included, a memorial donation may be made directly to the Pines Memorial and Development Society, c/o 372 108th Ave, Kimberley, BC V1A 1C6.

Final Arrangements have been entrusted to Mark Memorial Funeral Services.
