Mrs. Hilda Gleenie of 219 – Crerar Street in Kimberley, BC passed away at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook on Sunday, January 1, 2017 at 92 years of age.

Mrs. Glennie was born on September 22, 1924 in Wakefield, Quebec and was a long-time resident of Kimberley.

Hilda was a ready volunteer in the community, especially with the Women’s Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of the Catholic Women’s League for 68 years.

Hilda enjoyed sports, especially skiing, fishing, curling and golf.

Hilda leaves to mourn her son Brian (Clair) of Parksville, BC, two daughters Cathie (John) Morgan of Victoria, BC and Sheryl (Martin) Zral of Fernie, BC. She also leaves behind five grandchildren Megan, Sam, Kari, David and Lindsay (Scotland) Bell; her sister Mildred Egan of Low, Quebec and her brother Clarence of Deep River, Ontario.

Hilda was predeceased by her husband Jack on July 13, 1988 and their daughter Marilyn on August 4, 1981.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the vigil for Hilda at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Kimberley on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 7:00 pm. Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 6, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Kimberley at 11:00 am with Father Jim McHugh officiating. A private interment will follow at the Kimberley Cemetery.
