Donald Edward

Hanson

“Don”

1937 - 2017

It is with great sadness that we announce that Donald Hanson passed away on Friday, January 27th, 2017.

Don was born in Dalton, Saskatchewan to

Oscar and Senia Hanson on September 28th,

1937. He lived throughout Saskatchewan and Alberta before settling in the lower mainland to work as a carpenter for most of his adult life. Don and his wife Kaye moved to Cranbrook in 2003 to enjoy the

peaceful rural living of the Kootenays.

Don will be remembered for his beautiful smile and kind heart. Even in the darkest days in the hospital, Don would produce a brilliant smile to dazzle the nurses.

Don was predeceased by his parents Oscar and Senia Hanson and his infant son Dale. He is survived by his loving wife Kaye, his sister JoAnne (John) Wilson, his sons Donnie and Brian Hanson, his daughter Janice Davis (John), his step-son Doug Bruce (Kelly), his step-daughters Janice Ridings (Bill), Shelley Balfour (John), his granddaughters Alana, Amanda, Jenelle, Caitlin, Mallory, Gabrielle, Emily, Emma, Destiny, Tayah, Skyela, Peyton and his grandsons Mark, Tanner, Talen and Carson. His great-granddaughter Olivia never met her Great Grandpa but we believe they would have been great friends.

Don will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A family service will be held later in the year. At Don’s request, donations in his memory can be made to the local SPCA. A very special thank you to the nurses and doctors on the 3rd floor for their warmth, kindness and friendship over the past 9 weeks.

Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Service.
