Oct 23, 1930 – Nov 1, 2017
Alfeo Pellegrin passed away peacefully at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital on November 1, 2017 at 87 years of age surrounded by his family.
Alfeo was born in Cranbrook in 1930 to Angelo and Vittoria Pellegrin. Alfeo lived throughout the East Kootenays during his childhood, settling down in Cranbrook with his soulmate and partner for life, Mary, when they married in 1957.
Alfeo worked for Crestbrook, in the sawmill and at the builders’ supply store. Together, Alfeo and Mary raised five sons.
Nothing made Alfeo prouder than to talk about his boys or ‘birdies’ as he loved to call them. There was never a doubt as to the love that he had for his sons. Alfeo was happiest out getting wood with his family or fishing with his boys and Mary. His grandchildren adored ‘Nono’ and he loved them right back with all his heart.
Alfeo is survived by his sons Steve (Diana) of Calgary, Mike of Cranbrook, Dave (Lisa) and Colin (Ben) also of Calgary and by his sister, Elda McCutcheon of Cranbook.
He is survived by his grandchildren Caitlyn, Tyler, Will, Ted, Zach and Ryan as well as nieces, nephews and his sister-in-law Donna Sellan of Kimberley.
Alfeo is predeceased by his wife Mary, his parents, his brothers Albano, Nerino and Romeo as well as his son Gerry.
Alfeo requested that there not be a funeral service.
Memorial donations may be made in Alfeo’s honour to the: Kidney Foundation of Canada, 5715 Malpass Road, Nanaimo B.C. V9T 2N3.
Alfeo’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the nurses on the third floor for the care and attention that Alfeo received during his final days.
