NDP votes Saturday

Kootenay East constituency association meets in Cranbrook to select candidate for 2013

By next week, the field will be set - at least as far as the two main provincial political parties go.

On Sept. 5, the BC Liberals' Kootenay East Riding Association confirmed that Bill Bennett will again carry that party's torch into the May 2013 provincial election.

This weekend, it's the turn of the Kootenay East NDP Constituency Association.

The local NDP is  holding its Candidate Nomination Convention Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Manual Training Centre, 1212 - 2nd St. North, Cranbrook.

Norma Blissett of Cranbrook and Randal Macnair of Fernie are both standing as candidates.

Member registration begins at noon with voting commencing at 2 p.m. Members of the local Constituency Association since June 24, 2012, can vote at the nomination meeting  and must provide valid picture identification. Candidates' speeches begin at 1 p.m.
