Ktunaxa hosts second business showcase

The Economic and Investment Sector at Ktunaxa Nation Council (KNC) hosted the Ktunaxa Business Showcase at the Prestige Rocky Mountain Resort on Thursday, Feb. 29.

The event was the second showcase of its type — the first was held in 2022.

Sponsored by the Ktunaxa Nation Council and several industry partners, the event featured 36 Ktunaxa businesses, artisans and cultural societies, as well the four development corporations from each Ktunaxa First Nation. The showcase is an opportunity for marketing, networking, and presenting their work to the public.

And traffic was steady throughout the afternoon, as industry partners, community businesses and entrepreneurs and members of the public came by the check out what was on offer.

Some of the businesses on hand included Ainsworth Hot Springs, Ktunaxa Territory Ventures, Ash Firewear, Lexi Rae Construction, ACE Flagging/Firesmart, FlexiNet, Kettle River Contracting, Ka•Kin, Yaqa Nukiy Dental, Big Chief Industrial, Ktunaxa Enterprises, Raven’s Nest, and many more.

Artisans in attendance included Janice Alpine Design, Jen’s Body Balm, Legend Logos, Fry Bread For Funs, the Flatbow Culture Society, Cedar and Pine, and lots more.

The Economic and Investment Sector operates the Ktunaxa Business Development Office. They work closely with individual Ktunaxanin̓tik clients who can access microloans, small-business development grants, business coaching, and marketing items like websites.
